A Case Against Meditation

Divorce mediation comes with a lot of benefits and ways to make the divorce process easier. But if you don’t like to make your life easier, mediation may not be for you.

I am not an attorney — I am a divorce mediator. But I think I can make a good case against meditation (if I must). Bear with me as I explore the reasons you might not be a good candidate for divorce mediation.

Here are 10 reasons divorce meditation may not be for you.

10 Reasons Divorce Mediation is Not For You

Mediation is not a good alternative to litigation if:

  1.  You are intent on hurting your spouse even more than they are already hurting.

  2.  You want to gain some type of revenge during the divorce.

  3.  You want your children to see you as mean, angry, or vindictive.

  4.  You crave stress in your life.

  5.  You believe you are entitled to more than your spouse during divorce.

  6.  You love the idea of paying high divorce attorneys fees.

  7.  You want someone else to make decisions about your divorce and life.

  8.  You believe a judge knows what's best for you.

  9.  You are unwilling to speak to your spouse.

  10.  You want the divorce process to last a very long time.

If you prefer an easy, stress-free, less expensive process for your divorce, divorce mediation may be a better alternative. At Peaceable Divorce, our goal is to ensure a smooth process that meets the needs of all parties.
